  Now That You Can Get Involved In Politics Is It All That Important To You?

  jws cannot get involved with politics.

  exjws certainly can and based upon responses from this site, many are quite opinionated about political matters.. are you very involved in politics at this point in your life?

  do you really believe that your opinion, your vote means all that in the big scheme of things?

  In Australia it’s compulsory to vote. After every election the JWs receive a “failure to vote” notice and they have to explain why they didn’t vote otherwise they are fined. Many Witnesses see it as an opportunity to witness although most electoral officers couldn’t care less if they voted or not.

  I now vote and I relish the chance to be able to, after being denied the right to do so by the WTS.

  However, I’m not interested enough in politics to really get involved. I’m what they call a swinging voter.

  Melbourne Australia weather right now....what's your weather like today and where are you?

  took my dogs for a walk on a beatiful mild sunny day 24 degrees.

  winter is coming soon so i cleaned our wall heater!

  i have never seen snow here but our cars and lawns can frost over with cold night temps so hows your weather?.

  Why are us Aussies up so late, haha?

  31 degrees in northern NSW today, supposed to be the same for the rest of the week.

  At the beginning of the month we had autumn-like weather but lately we’ve had a hot spell.

  When I was a JW, if there were any protesters outside the Assembly or Kingdom Hall we would just look away. As others have said, protesting in this manner is counter-productive because it only reinforces the stereotype of angry and disruptive apostates.

  Kool-aid Man (aka J. Mason Emerson?) is entitled to do whatever he wants to do legally, but to call those who don’t agree with him “cowards” is very childish and not Christian.

  How do I protest against the WTS? By living a good life and being an example to the JWs who know me, to show that leaving the WTS doesn’t make you a rabid, venom-spewing angry apostate who lives an unhappy and immoral life.

  When I was having major doubts about the WTS, I used to pray to Jehovah for help, to show me that it really was his organization and to help me grow stronger in my faith.

  Funnily enough, the more I prayed, the more I seemed to be pulled away from the Org.

  I don’t believe in the Bible’s god anymore, but I sometimes wonder if there was something/one that was listening to my prayers.

  this tripe from the june 15 tower.

  how many of the witness kids "and adults" get into trouble right within the congregation.

  just recently talked to an old friend still in whose witness son in law left his daughter for another and subsequently his daughter got hooked up with that ladys husband.

  I’ve been out of the JWs for 10 years now and I have never regretted for one minute my decision to leave.

  As for “the world” and the people living in it, they are no worse, perhaps better than any JWs I have known.

  I know they focus on people who make mistakes due to bad management eg If you have unprotected sex, then the result might be pregnancy. Now this girl who left at 16 should have made sure that if she had sex, that she would protect herself from pregnancy and sexual diseases. But she didn’t, and she reaped the results.

  BUT THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN TO EVERYONE WHO LEAVES THE WTS!!!

  She was young, and no doubt grew up sheltered from the ways of the world. At 16, she probably had the worldly mutzpa of a normal 10 year old. So of course when she left the WTS she made stupid mistakes (and who doesn’t make mistakes at 16) and instead of taking responsibility for her own decisions, she blames it on her decision to leave the WTS. Sure, if she hadn’t left the WTS she may have not got herself involved in sleeping with someone, but at the same time, she made the decisions to have unprotected sex. If she had taken precautions, then she simply wouldn’t have gotten herself into that mess and she could be living a happy life outside the WTS.

  It’s almost as if the WTS willingly set up young people to fail should they ever attempt to leave the JWs.
